Okay, I’ve been quiet long enough. It’s time to let you all know what I’ve been up to lately.

Last year I entered a work of mine into the Word Alive Press writing contest and received an Honourable Mention. Since last fall I’ve been working with Word Alive Press to prepare the manuscript for publication, and now The Kingdom is finally avialable!

This was a piece I began writing in 2006 after an unexpected wake up call from God. A new message had been put on my heart, and I was inspired to write a fantasy novella. But for years I couldn’t find a home for it, until Word Alive Press saw something in this story and decided they wanted to publish it.

I had a lunch & reading gig recently with friends and family, to celebrate the publication and get some pre-orders. Everyone was very supportive. Now that publishing is done it’s time for me to shift into Promoting phase.

I’ve got my copy nestled right next to my 1966 edition of The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien.

This is not the first book I’ve written, but it is the first one to receive publication (hopefully of many). I had written two full-length novels and gotten some feedback from people in the writing industry before I started writing The Kingdom. It’s the first piece that I began after developing my craft, which definitely shows when I compare it to my previous works. I still want to get those pieces published as well someday, but I’ll need to get cracking revising them before they’ll be ready. I also have several other ideas in various stages of development. It’ll be interesting to see where God takes me from here.

I have to warn you guys that this book contains some mature content, so if you’re thinking of getting it for your kids then I would strongly recommend reading it yourself first and then discerning whether or not your kids are ready for it.
